graffiti fashion
Assigned in Virginia Commonwealth University's Space Research course, Graffiti Fashion is an 11 x 14-inch piece inspired by things that weren't supposed to be in Richmond's environment. In the fall semester, Lauryn walked around and took several pictures of trash and graffiti that had complementary, analogous, and primary colors. She then chose two images, put them in the Pantone app to choose the main colors of the piece, and created an image-based off on them.

Lauryn loves connecting her assignments back to what she's passionate about, whether that be her novels or fashion. In this assignment, Lauryn created two designs that had similar percentages of ultraviolet, gold leaf, etc. as it did in the image that inspired it. She used gouché and ink on bristol paper to capture her designs, and created accessories to help bring the piece to life. She mimicked the calligraphy of the graffiti and turned them into abstract swirls on her dress to fully capture what inspired her.
