The City of Kalpana is a collection inspired by the Unpsoken Universe Series. Through exploring Kalpana's ten districts, the collection focuses on the eclectic, diverse fashion founded in the Arts District from all walks of life.
In the Unspoken Universe, four galaxies comprise Confederation Tenn, founded by Vesper Tenn thousands of years ago. Kalpana is the capital for Galaxy 10-11 and is broken up into ten districts. The northern districts comprise Lancaster, Academic, Forest, and the Casiphia Districts. Then, the southern districts include the Avarus, Tsillah, Lacuna, Watson, and Twilight districts. The arts district is in the city's center, dividing the northern and southern districts. An unstable atmosphere in the arts district can be felt, a mixture of various cultures, species, and political and economic backgrounds. Galaxy 10-11's form of government- the council- has been corrupted by monopolies. It is expected to see leftist extremists in response to the monopolies stirring in the streets. One will also see AVIA cosmetics, a robotic mechanism monopoly that recently started selling prosthetic procedures as cosmetic and soul-capturing. Those in the arts will wear AVIA cyberwar for style. However, those in the southern districts, such as Lacuna and Twilight, will illegally augment their cyberwar to satisfy their desires in gang and street crime.
The Arts District is very lively and attracts many different types of species! Holograms of advertising, fashion, and politics wade through the buildings. There is a new train station that was put in place that flies, putting the Watson train station into commission. One will notice many different people from the various districts in the arts district, making the fashion there very unique to each individual. Mainstream art district fashion includes loud colors, holograms, and statement garments. Those who live in the arts district are trendsetters, putting them at the forefront of the admired styles. One will notice the holograms of Lillian Biles' most wanted posters in the streets. The extremist group uses Lillian as a martyr and is often seen using her likeness.
Characters will wear synthetics such as polyester that was mined from the Avurus district, also known as Smokey Lane. Monopolies, whose factories are located in Avarus, will sell their carbon to textile companies that use the components to create polyester. This allows the monopolies to exploit the system by making money off of the system that was supposed to hold them accountable.
